Aplastic Anemia

Bone marrow makes red cells, white cells, and platelets

In aplastic anemia the bone marrow stops making enough red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Aplastic anemia may appear at any age, but is diagnosed more often in children and young adults. It occurs in about 2-6 individuals per million.

The Barth Syndrome 4th International Scientific, Medical and Family Conference, On Track Toward a Cure, is being held July July 21-26, 2008, in Clearwater, Florida. The Barth Syndrome Foundation, sponsors of the conference, state that this conference will be dedicated to increasing knowledge and accelerating advances in research about this rare X-linked metabolic genetic disorder. It will bring together basic scientists, clinical researchers, treating physicians, other professionals, affected individuals and families to focus on the syndrome through a series of carefully organized sessions.

The lymph system is affected in lymphangiomatosisLymphangiomatosis is a disease in which many tumors (lymphangiomas) or cysts grow in the lymph system of the body. Although these tumors are not cancerous, they invade the body tissues and cause symptoms.
