Texas finally adds CF testing to newborn screening

Every state in the U.S. tests newborns for cystic fibrosis (CF), an inherited exocrine disorder, except Texas. In December 2009 that will change, as Texas is finally adding CF testing to its existing 28 newborn screening tests. The mandatory CF screening was approved by the Texas legislature with advocacy from the local chapter of the March of Dimes and local pediatricians.
