Sialidosis

Sialidosis is an inherited glycoprotein (lysosomal) storage disease. In sialidosis, the enzyme alpha-neuraminidase is deficient, which causes a buildup of toxic compounds in cells throughout the body. There are four different types of sialidosis, and the effects of the disease may range from mild to severe.
