- Males and females at least 18 years old with multiple myeloma - The purpose of the study is to test if addition of bortezomib (Velcade) by 20 injections during a 4 month period starting 3 month after stem cell (bone marrow) transplant can is better than receiving no consolidation or maintenance therapy. - Males and females 18-65 years old with progressive systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) - The purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of thalidomide (Thalomid) as a treatment for systemic sclerosis. Study information
- Males and females 1 month - 45 years old with sickle cell disease - The purpose of this study is to see if giving lower doses of chemotherapy will result in successful bone marrow transplant without as severe side-effects but with permanent control of the disease. Study information
- Males and females at least 18 years old with myelodysplastic syndromes - The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of low doses of the drug cytarabine in association with the drug bortezomib (Velcade) in the treatment of patients diagnosed with high risk myelodysplastic syndromes.
