Essential Thrombocythemia

A person with essential thromobocythemia (ET) has an excess amount of platelets in the blood due to a disorder of the bone marrow. ET may occur at any age but tends to be more common in adults. It is often discovered during a routine physical examination. It is one of the myeloproliferative disorders.
