NORD hosts Tribute Banquet for rare disease research

The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) hosts its 2006 Tribute Banquet on April 24 to honor individuals and companies for milestones in the development of diagnostics and treatments for rare diseases. This year's banquet includes a special tribute to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in honor of its 100th anniversary. Other honorees include BioMarin Pharmaceutical for the development of Naglazyme to treat Maroteaux-Lamy disease (MPS type VI), Celgene Corporation for the development of Revlimid to treat myelodysplastic syndrome, and Novartis for the development of Exjade to treat chronic iron overload. The Tribute Banquet will be held at the Capitol Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC.
