Risk of Ewing's sarcoma in farmers' children
Thursday July 21, 2005
Researchers from Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Australia, conducted an analysis of case studes on Ewing's sarcoma, a childhood cancer. They found an increase in Ewing's sarcoma risk for children whose mothers or fathers worked on farms, especially if the farm work occurred during conception or pregnancy. The biological mechanism underlying the association, though, is not known, and further study is necessary. The research was published in the July 10, 2005, issue of the International Journal of Cancer.
