Mouse model aids neurofibromatosis 1 research

Friday February 11, 2005
According to researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, a mouse model they developed mimics the human genetic disorder neurofibromatosis 1, in which tumors grow in nerve tissue in the body. The mice provided insights into how the tumors may begin, and what might be promising drug targets for treating the disorder. The research was published in the January 2005 issue of Annals of Neurology.
