Rare stem cell responsible for multiple myeloma

Multiple myeloma, a bone marrow cancer, often comes back (recurs) after treatment. Researchers looking into why this happens uncovered a rare immune system B-cell that gives rise to the malignant bone marrow plasma cells in the disease. The researchers are studying therapies that will target these stem cells and stop the cancer from recurring.
