Protein linked to infant leukemia

A newly-identified protease enzyme, Taspase1, has been discovered to play a key role in the development of an often-lethal infant leukemia called mixed lineage leukemia (MLL). Researchers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston believe that blocking Taspase1 might provide a way to shut down the production of cancer cells, both in MLL and in other cancers.
