Chemical pathway linked to digestive tract tumors
Friday October 31, 2003
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have discovered that a known chemical signal pathway is linked to cancers of the esophagus, stomach, and pancreas. In mice, blocking this chemical pathway made implanted tumors shrink and die. The researchers hope to develop chemicals to block the chemical pathway in humans, thus providing treatment for these types of cancers.
