Mosquito-borne encephalitis spreading
Monday August 18, 2003
A rise in the number of mosquito-borne encephalitis cases, particularly eastern equine encephalitis, has been noted this year. In the Southeastern United States, along with the hundreds of horses affected, 6 people have contacted the disease, and two have died. West Nile virus cases are increasing in the West part of the country, but infected mosquitoes have been found along the East coast as well.
