Singer Barry White Dies of Kidney Disease

African-Americans are at higher risk for kidney disease, including focal glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Singer Barry White died July 4 from kidney disease caused by high blood pressure. The National Institutes of Health has launched a pilot program called "You Have the Power to Prevent Kidney Disease" aimed at increasing awareness about kidney disease and promoting early testing among African-Americans.
